Kidneys R Us
Donate a Kidney, Save a Life
Hello! My name is Josh Bostrom, I live in New Hope, MN, and in a lot of ways, I’m a typical 30 year old guy. I enjoy gaming, learning about tech, spending time with family and being involved in my church. One of the things that makes me unique is that I’m on dialysis and need a kidney for transplant.
How I got here
I was born with Multi-cystic Dysplastic Kidney Disease, a problem discovered after my parents brought me home from the hospital. After almost a year of dialysis as an infant, I got a kidney transplant from my mom back at 11 months old. That kidney did really well, until In 2021, when I got hit the news that I had acute kidney failure which then turned into chronic End Stage Renal Disease. I began hemodialysis, which is a part-time job in itself! I go to dialysis for four hours three times a week, where I sit for my entire treatment while the dialysis machine I am connected to gives me life-sustaining treatment and medications.
How you can help
Please consider beginning the process to become a kidney donor.
- Because of my blood type, I can accept a kidney from any blood type!
- My insurance will pay for your medical expenses
- If you’re not a match for me, you can still donate in a process called paired exchanged
- Quick recovery:
- After donating, your recovery should last a few weeks.
- After receiving your kidney, my health exponentially increases the moment they place your donated kidney.
For more information on starting the donation process head to Donation Info.
Please pray for me as I navigate the stress, anxiety and complexity that comes along with transplantation.
